National Parks

Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park

This park is also the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and takes its name because of the Franklin and Gordon River. This National Park also hosts the Frenchman's Cap National Park, established in 1941.


Hartz Mountains National Park

Hartz Mountains National Park is very visited in winter time by many country skiers. Belongs to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and has as highest point the Hartz Peak with 1255 meters high. Beautiful lakes get formed at the bottom of the hills.


Southwest National Park

This is the largest park in Tasmania, is located at the south-west part and has an area of approx. 6,052kmē, is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The natural environment is splendid and has almost no changes from many years ago except for the construction of a large hydro-electric station on Frankland Range.


Walls of Jerusalem National Park

Walls Of Jerusalem is located at the northwest of Hobart and has an area of approx. 518 kmē, has owned this name because of the special form that have taken the walls which enclose the Lake Country. The highest points are West Wall with 1490m and Mount Jerusalem with 1458m high.



Douglas-Apsley National Park

This park was established in 1990, situated in the northeast coast of Tasmania, 149 km northeast of Hobart, has beautiful waterfalls and splendid views of the Apsley River and Douglas River.



Maria Island National Park

Maria Island National Park has an area of approx. 115.5 kmē and is situated at the east-northeast of Hobart, 70 km away. Its main objective is to protect endangered species. Beautiful and sandy beaches make of these National Park a complete place for knowing about Tasmania history and also for having fun.
